

Born on Staten Island in 1929, Al grew up in Tompkinsville, attended P.S. 16, and graduated from Curtis High School. He moved to Todt Hill after marrying Margaret Ducey in 1962.
Al served his country as an electronic technician in the U.S. Navy, aboard the USS Hugh Purvis from 1950 to 1954. He enjoyed his 35 year career working at IBM, retiring in 1992.
An avid golfer and bowler, he was a member of the Swampy Marsh Rats and the S.I. Seniors Golf Club and served as the league's statistician. He also participated in many bowling leagues throughout the years at Victory Lanes, Showplace, and Columbian Lanes. Al enjoyed family vacations, having spent 35 wonderful summers at his summer home on Cranberry Lake and more recently summers on Long Beach Island.
He was predeceased by his wife of 55 years, Marge, and survived by his brothers, Edward and Alan, and his four children, Gerrianne Kelleher (Paul), Margaret Burns (Mike), Alfred, and Patricia, and his five grandchildren, Alexa, Sean, Mitch, Mikey, and Chris.
The wake will be held on Saturday, Feb. 3 at Casey Funeral Home from 2 to 5 p.m. Service will follow at 5 p.m.
