Army Veteran, Retired U.S. Postal Worker
Native Staten Islander Alfred A. Valdata 58, of New Brighton passed away at home on November 18, 2018.
Born and raised in New Brighton he attended and Curtis High School. He was the youngest of four children of Rosetta and Alfred Valdata.
In 1978, he enlisted in the U.S. Army and served from November 1978 to November 1981 . While in the army he received an army service ribbon, good conduct medal and an M-16 Rifle Sharpshooter Badge. He was assigned as a Supply Specialist in the Installation Maintenance Division in Fort Devens, Massachusetts. After his honorable discharge he became a U.S Postal Worker in Manhattan. His kind demeanor earned him many friends along his mail route. He retired in 2015 from the post office.
Alfred was extremely close with his family and would do anything for them. He was always willing to listen, give advice or lend a helping hand. Alfred adored his great-nephew Christopher James Theurer and great niece Kayla Rose Theurer. They were the joy and happiness in his life. He enjoyed going to the movies, dinner and bowling with his friends from the post office. He was fondly known as “Big Al” by his friends from the post office.
Alfred was predeceased by his father Alfred (2001), mother Rosetta (2017), and brother Gregory (1975). He is survived by his sister Joan Creamer (Richard), brother Daniel Valdata. He is also survived by his niece Danielle Creamer, nephew Gregory Creamer(CarolLynn) as well as great- nephew Christopher Theurer and great niece Kayla Rose Theurer.
