Born on February 14, 1951, Alice was raised in the West Brighton section of Staten Island—a place she was incredibly proud to call home throughout her life. Her deep roots in the community shaped her character and values, and she carried that Staten Island pride with her always. She attended Our Lady of Good Counsel Grammar School, graduated from Countess Moore High School, and went on to earn her degree from the College of Staten Island.
Proud of her Irish heritage, Alice embraced the traditions, values, and strong sense of family that defined her upbringing. That pride was reflected in her warmth, resilience, and the deep connections she maintained with those she loved.
Alice was predeceased by her beloved husband, Edward Hicks, who passed in January 2024, and by her brother Peter, whose life and experiences deeply shaped her own. Inspired by Peter, who was autistic, Alice became a passionate advocate for individuals with developmental differences. She dedicated much of her professional career to improving the lives of children and families in this community, working with organizations such as On Your Mark and Eden II, where she was known for her compassion, commitment, and tireless advocacy.
She will be remembered most for her deep devotion to her family. Alice was a proud and loving mother to her son, Tim, and a cherished mother-in-law to Keri. Her greatest joy was being a grandmother to Sophia and Catherine, who brought her endless happiness and pride.
She is also survived by her dear siblings, Paddy and Joan, as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins, all of whom she loved deeply and held close to her heart.
Alice’s warmth, kindness, and steady presence will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. Her legacy lives on through her family and the many lives she touched with her compassion and strength.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 15, 2026, from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM and 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Harmon Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 AM at Our Lady of Good Counsel Church.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Alice’s memory to Eden II:

May the road rise up to meet you,
May the wind be always at your back,
May the sun shine warm upon your face,
The rains fall soft upon your fields,
And until we meet again,
May God hold you in the palm of His hand.
