

AnnMarie D’Elia (nee Varriano), 61 of Great Kills, passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 23 after a three-month illness with her loving husband and family members by her side. A native of Staten Island, born in New Dorp Heights to the late John and Dolores Varriano, AnnMarie graduated from New Dorp High School and immediately entered the workforce at the Depository Trust Company (DTC) in Manhattan. Her dedication and hard work led her to a remarkable 30-year career at JP Morgan Chase where she broke the glass ceiling to become Vice President in Treasury Solutions.
A loving wife, sister, daughter-in-law, aunt, great aunt and godmother to so many, AnnMarie was cherished by all. She had a passion for entertaining family and friends, often hosting small BBQs that welcomed up to 70 people. Always found in the kitchen, AnnMarie ensured everyone had plenty to eat and drink, embodying warmth and hospitality.
Known for her infectious laugh, best hugs, and compassionate nature, AnnMarie was a caregiver at heart. She was famous for cleaning the house before the cleaning ladies arrived and for her beautiful soul that touched everyone she met. Her friends became family, and she was always there for anyone at any time, offering support and love.
AnnMarie and the love of her life, Tom, created a home that felt like a resort to all who visited. She loved playing cards and games, and her classic, effortless beauty was admired by many. AnnMarie will be remembered for her warm, compassionate spirit, her ability to cry even at happy occasions, and her unwavering support for those she loved.
She leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and unforgettable memories. AnnMarie will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
AnnMarie is survived by her husband Thomas D’Elia of 23 years, siblings Linda Skinner (Kevin), John Varriano (Joanne), Alfonse D’Elia (Melissa), Vincent D’Elia (Carolann), mother-in-law Rose D’Elia, nieces and nephews, Dean (Jennifer), Lisa (Michael), Kevin (Diane), Joseph (Emily), John (Lisa), Francesca (Michael), Alexandra (Dan), Alfonse, Alyssa (Steve), Carolyn (Joel), Deanna (Julian), Jennifer (Eddie), Danielle (Mike), and numerous great nieces, great nephews and godchildren. She is predeceased by her sister Karen (surviving husband Dean).
Visitation will take place at Casey McCallum Rice South Shore Funeral Home, 30 Nelson Avenue, Staten Island on Sunday January 26, 2025 from 2-4PM and 7-9PM. Mass of Resurrection will be held Monday, January 27, 2025 at 11:00AM at St. Clare Church, 110 Nelson Avenue, Staten Island. Entombment will be at Moravian Cemetery following the mass service.
