Anthony "Tony" Brandefine

Anthony "Tony" Brandefine, age 73, of Great Kills, Staten Island passed away on Thursday, June 16, 2022 at Staten Island University Hospital - North. A native Staten Islander, Tony, was born November 10, 1948. He was a graduate of New Dorp High School and Wagner College, where he received a Bachelor of Science in Education. He retired from the City of NY D.E.P and was a Manager for Waterford Wedgwood as well.

Tony enjoyed golf, his dogs, football, gardening, motorcycles, and music. He received a gardening award on Staten Island. He was a parishioner of St. Clare’s Church and a member of the Knights of Columbus. Tony was a Hall of Fame football player and captain at New Dorp High School. A four-year member & Captain of the Wagner College Football team. He was a coach and mentor to many throughout his life and an avid supporter of youth sports. Tony was a member of the Delta Nu Fraternity while at Wagner College. He married his childhood sweetheart, Lisbeth, as they began dating at 16 & 17 years old. Tony and Liz have been married for 50 Years. His greatest joy was spending time with his family, football, and sports of all types, and days on the beach in Long Beach Island.

Tony is survived by his wife, Lisbeth nee Scarangello; his children, Elisabeth (Christopher) Sundback, Anthony (Lisa) Brandefine, Natalie (Ron) Goldenberg; his grandchildren, Jenna Sundback, Grace Sundback, Anthony Brandefine, Lucas Brandefine, Brittany Goldenberg, Phoenix Goldenberg, Jake Goldenberg. He is predeceased by his father, Anthony, his mother Josephine and his brother Joseph Brandefine.

A visitation for Tony will be held Tuesday, June 21, 2022 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM and 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Casey McCallum Rice South Shore Funeral Home, 30 Nelson Avenue, Staten Island, NY 10308. A funeral service will occur Wednesday, June 22, 2022 at 11:00 AM at St. Clare Church, 110 Nelson Ave, Staten Island, NY 10308.
