
STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. - Anthony Felella, 83, of Lighthouse Hill, a retired communications company supervisor, died Wednesday of complications from bladder cancer at Staten Island University Hospital, Ocean Breeze.
Born in Brooklyn, he moved to Great Kills in 1964. Mr. Felella lived in Huguenot and Grasmere before settling in Lighthouse Hill 14 years ago.
Mr. Felella graduated from Erasmus High School, Brooklyn.
He worked as a supervisor and teletype operator for RCA Communications, Manhattan, for more than 30 years. Mr. Felella was then employed by IBJ Schroder Bank & Trust Co., also Manhattan. He retired in 1996.
He was on the executive board of the New York City-based Communications Workers of America (CWA) union.
Mr. Felella loved cats and was very passionate about them, family said. He often fostered strays. He was also a dedicated New York Giants fan.
He was a parishioner of St. Clare's R.C. Church, Great Kills.
Surviving are his wife of 59 years, the former Dorothy Berardi; a son, Anthony; two daughters, Donna Tomasino and Gina Maddalon; a brother, Nicholas, and five grandchildren.
The funeral will be Monday from the Casey McCallum Rice South Shore Funeral Home, Great Kills, with a mass at 9:45 a.m. in St. Clare's Church. Burial will follow in Resurrection Cemetery, Pleasant Plains.
