

Born February 21, 1931 in Harlem, Tony was the youngest of five children born to the late Calogero and Carmela. His late siblings were John, Joseph, Steve, and Josephine Petchonka.
He graduated from Haaren High and Delchanty Institute of Drafting.
Tony met his wife, Carmela (Piscopo) in 1951. They were married in 1955 and settled on the Lower Eastside, moving to Staten Island in 1978.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Carmela (Millie), his son Michael, daughter-in-law Joyce, daughter Adelina, son-in-law Mike, and son Anthony Jr., daughter-in-law Maureen. Tony was a loving grandfather of 4, Lisa, Michael Jr., Giavanna and Joseph. He was also a loving great-grandfather of 2, Brianna and Isabella.
Tony proudly served in the United States Navy Airforce, Composite Squadron, VC4, during the Korean War.
Tony was a member of the United Brotherhood of Carpenters, NYC, Local 157 and worked as a construction superintendent for DAT Construction. He also worked for Scully, Turner Construction and Island Architectural Woodwork, Inc.
Tony was a Life member of the Great Kills Yacht Club, serving as House Chairman from 1996-2013. He was also a member of the Korean War Veterans, CPL, Allan F Kivlehan Chapter, Staten Island, NY.
Tony loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He also enjoyed playing cards, fishing, hunting, watching TV westerns, dancing and singing.
A gathering of family and friends will take place on Wednesday and Thursday from 2-4, & 7-9 P.M. at the casey McCallum Rice South Shore Funeral Home, 30 Nelson Avenue, Staten Island.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10:30 AM on Friday, January 4, 2019, at Our Lady Star of the Sea. Burial to follow at Resurrection Cemetery.
