Barbara Glass (nee Hogan) was called home on February 8, 2019 from SIUH-North while surrounded by her friends and family. Born in Manhattan, she was raised in West Brighton where she attended St. Paul’s grammar school and St. Peter’s Girl’s High School. A gifted student, she won a full scholarship to Hunter College, School of Nursing. Upon graduation, she went to work in the trauma unit at Bellevue Hospital where, in complicated situations the nurses would always, “Ask Hogan”. Never one to slow down she filled her spare time doing private duty, teaching, writing chapters of medical textbooks and even joining the Army Reserves where she retired as a Major. She was predeceased by her father, Jerry Hogan, her sisters Nancy and Linda Hogan as well as her first husband, James Soppet. She is survived by her mother Mary Hogan, her husband Robert Glass, her sister Janice Hogan and her stepson Richard (Kathy) Soppet, her beloved puppy Bunky as well as numerous friends many dating back to high school. The love, wit, intelligence and compassion that she brought to everything she did was a testament to what a remarkable person she was. Those who are her survivors know how lucky they were to be close to her. The world was truly a better place with her in it. A memorial visitation will occur Monday, from 2 to 4PM and 7 to 9 PM at Casey Funeral Home, Castleton Corners. A memorial mass will be Tuesday, February 19, 2019 from 10:45 AM St. Teresa's Church.
