Barbara A. LiGreci

February 21, 1947 – August 30, 2026

Barbara A. LiGreci, a lifelong Staten Island resident and beloved wife, mother, grandmother, stepmother, daughter, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on August 30, 2026, at the age of 79, after a courageous, hard-fought battle with pancreatic cancer.

Born on February 21, 1947, Barbara was the daughter of the late John J. Farley and Dorothy (née Nowak) Farley. She grew up on Staten Island, surrounded by family and the close-knit community that would remain an important part of her life.

Barbara graduated from Curtis High School in 1964. Upon graduating Barbara worked for the New York Telephone Company. In 1968, Barbara worked in back-office operations for the brokerage firm; Smith Barney in NYC. Finally, in 1979, Barbara began working at LiGreci’s Staaten as a maître d’ where she worked large events before ultimately becoming an office manager and dedicating the remainder of her 46-year career to managing staff schedules for the Staaten.

Barbara was first married to Ron Garcia in 1969, with whom she shared two children, Candace Maroney and Darren Garcia. Becoming a mother was one of the most important chapters of Barbara's life, and her love for her children remained at the heart of who she was.

In 1985, Barbara married Jack LiGreci, joining the beloved LiGreci family of Staten Island and becoming a cherished part of the family behind the historic Staaten. Through Jack, Barbara became a loving stepmother, step-grandmother, and step-great grandmother who was an important presence in the lives of the LiGreci family.

Throughout the many years by Jack's side, Barbara was a constant supportive presence in the Staten Island restaurant/bar owner's circle creating the many loving friendships Barbara and Jack enjoyed over the years.

As Barbara's family continued to grow through her children, she became proud Nanny to Kayla Maroney and Isabella Garcia and truly treasured the generations that followed her. Her family was her greatest legacy, and the love she shared with them is unmeasured and will continue through the memories they carry forward.

Barbara was part of a family with deep roots on Staten Island. Her father, John Farley, was a longtime Staten Island resident, and the Farley and LiGreci families shared generations of connections to the island, its neighborhoods, churches, businesses, and community.

Proud of her West Brighton roots and Irish heritage, Barbara was an active and dedicated member of the Ladies Ancient Order of Hibernians (LAOH), North Shore Division 10. One of her most cherished recent memories was leading the Staten Island St. Patrick's Day Parade alongside her husband, Jack. While Jack was honored as the Grand Marshal by the AOH, Barbara proudly marched with him, a deeply deserved moment of celebration that they both truly treasured.

Barbara was an incredibly devoted grandmother who never missed a chance to support Isabella and Kayla. No matter where their cheerleading competitions took them – from Disneyworld to any other venue- she was always there, cheering the loudest and standing proudly as their biggest fan.

Barbara was a devoted New York Mets fan, and she loved seeing the Mets win, and took equal pleasure in watching the Yankees lose. Barbara also loved animals, especially her 2 cats, Gracie & Rocky.

Barbara's life was not defined only by the families she was born into or married into, but by the people she loved and the relationships she built throughout her 79 years. Barbara loved and treasured her friendships as everyone will recall the many times she hosted parties at their family LBI house, all the girls weekend trips with her cherished and dearest friends, and her legendary ladies holiday party that she hosted at the Staaten every year. She was a woman whose story was woven into the fabric of Staten Island and whose presence will be deeply missed by everyone fortunate enough to have known her.

After a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer, Barbara passed away surrounded by the love of her family. While her loss leaves an immeasurable void, her family finds comfort in knowing that the love she gave so freely will live on in her children, grandchildren, stepchildren, extended family, and friends.

Barbara is survived by her beloved husband, Jack LiGreci; her children, Candace Maroney and Darren Garcia; her grandchildren, Kayla Maroney and Isabella Garcia; her stepson Gary LiGreci, wife Liz, stepdaughter Lynn Mangini, husband Doug and their families; her brother John Farley (partner Suzy); her Godson Sean Farley, wife Alyssa and family; and her extended Farley, Garcia, and LiGreci families.

She was preceded in death by her parents, John J. and Dorothy Farley, her stepson Kenneth J. LiGreci, and by loved ones who were an important part of her life.

Barbara's family and friends will gather to celebrate her life at Harmon Funeral Home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at Sacred Heart Church on Saturday, September 5, 2026.

Though Barbara is no longer with us, her memory will remain in the hearts of those who loved her, in the family she built, and in the many lives she touched during her 79 years.

Visitation will be held at Harmon Funeral Home, 571 Forest Ave, Staten Island, NY 10310, US, on September 3, 2026, from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm, and again at Harmon Funeral Home on September 4, 2026, from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm, and from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Sacred Heart Church, 981 Castleton Ave, New York, NY 10310, US, on September 5, 2026, from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm.
