Born Barbara Boffa to Biaggio "Bob" Boffa and Mary Boffa nee Brogna in Pittston, Pa., she was a lifelong resident of Staten Island. Mrs. Loiacono graduated from St. Peters Girls High School in 1966. She then went on to receive her Associates degree at SI Community College and later, her Bachelor of Science degree at Richmond College. On November 26 1971, she married her adoring husband Filippo Loiacono. In addition to raising a son and daughter, Mrs. Loiacono taught at the Assumption School in New Brighton for a number of years. She then worked for 35 years for the Unified Court System. Mrs. Loiacono was also a parishioner of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church.
Barbara is survived by her devoted husband Filippo, and doting son and daughter, Angelo and Elisa, as well as her son-in-law Frank Pasqua and daughter-in-law, Jeanette Loiacono. She had four grandchildren whom she adored; Francis Pasqua, 17, Philip Pasqua 13, Velio Pasqua 11, and Sabien Loiacono, 1.
Mrs. Loiacono also leaves behind her twin brother Anthony Boffa, her sister-in-law and best friend, ToniAnn Loiacono, and brother-in-law Frank.
Affectionately referred to as "Big Momma", Barbara loved to entertain family and friends for all occasions and was an exceptional home-maker as well as cook, specializing in Barrese dishes as they were preferred by her husband and children.
Barbara will be sorely missed, but now rests in the arms of our Lord and is beyond the trials, tribulations and vicissitudes of health that had made recent years difficult and which only further illustrated her strength, character and faith.
May she rest in the sweetest peace.
Arrangements under the direction of Casey Funeral Home, Staten Island, NY.
