

Born Carmela Satriale in Brooklyn, she graduated from Franklin K. Lane High School in her native borough.
Mrs. Conte moved to Westerleigh in 1963, and relocated to Hudson, Fla., in 1991. She returned to the Island in 2006, to live with her daughter, Deborah Conte in Westerleigh.
She enjoyed visiting casinos and playing slot machines. She loved her dog, "Ginger, a miniature poodle and also enjoyed knitting beautiful creations for her family.
"My grandmother was a beautiful woman, inside and out. Whenever I had a problem, or just wanted to talk she was always there for me. She was one of the strongest women I knew," said her grandson, Edward Lull.
She was a parishioner of Holy Family R.C. Church, Westerleigh.
Her husband of 55 years, Joseph (Jerry), died in 2006.
She is survived by her daughters, Deborah Conte and Brenda Delisi; her sister, Bernadette Satriale and three grandsons.
The funeral will be Saturday from the Casey Funeral Home, Castleton Corners, with a memorial Mass at 10:30 a.m. in Holy Family Church. Arrangements include cremation.
