

She was a first generation Italian-American and the eldest of her Italian born parents. At a young age, Carmela helped see her family through the Great Depression choosing to stay in the Greenwich Village neighborhood she had grown to love. As a young woman, she made her way into the world as a talented seamstress. Initially, Carmela worked on uniforms for Military Serviceman but then made her way uptown to Saks Fifth Avenue where her work as a seamstress continued and love and family followed soon after.
Carmela and her late husband Ignatius Fiore had four children. Unfortunately, Stephen Fiore who was the youngest died suddenly and tragically not to long ago. Despite this devastating loss, Carmela's faith never wavered and her compassion, kindness, sense of humor and her deep love for her family and friends continued to shine through until her passing.
Carmela is survived by her sister Edith, her brother Raymond, her sister in law Joan and brother in law Sal. Additionally she is survived by her son Joseph and his wife Agnes, by her daughter Sandy and her husband Neil, and her daughter Susan and her husband Liam. She is also survived by three loving grandchildren whom she adored.
