OBITUARY
Carmine G. Arcolio
May 12, 1920 – April 24, 2012
STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. -- Carmine G. Arcolio, 91, of Great Kills, a retired sewer worker for the city Department of Environmental Protection, died Tuesday in the Eger Health Care and Rehabilitation Center, Egbertville, where he had been a resident for the past six months.
Born in Manhattan, he graduated from Lafayette High School in Brooklyn and moved to Rosebank in 1945. He later settled in Great Kills.
Mr. Arcolio served as a private in the U.S. Army from 1941 to 1943.
He worked as a laborer for the sewer divison of the city Department of Environmental Protection for many years, retiring in 1980.
In his leisure time, he enjoyed cooking, doting on his grandson, and taking trips to Atlantic City.
Mr. Arcolio was a parishioner of St. Clare’s R.C. Church, Great Kills.
“We will always remember him as a loving father,” said his son, Joseph.
His wife of 47 years, the former Marie Manzione, died in 1991.
Surviving, along with his son, Joseph, are two daughters, Patricia Gass and Carol Sandoval; one sister, Josie Maugerri, and one grandson.
The funeral will be Monday from the Virginia Funeral Chapel, Dongan Hills, with a mass at 9:45 a.m. in St. Clare’s Church. Burial will be in Moravian Cemetery, New Dorp.
