Born Catherine Joura in Tottenville, she graduated from Tottenville High School in 1941 and settled in Grant City after her marriage.
Mrs. Cummings was a homemaker and longtime parishioner of St. Christopher's R.C. Church in Grant City where she was a member of the Friendship Club. She enjoyed taking trips to Atlantic City, shopping and horse racing.
Her husband, Edward, died in 1983, and her son, Edward Jr., died in 2000.
Surviving are her son, Charles; two daughters, Kathleen Yzaguirre and Carolann Hicks; two brothers, John (Sonny) Joura and Frank Joura; nine grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be on Friday from the Virginia Funeral Chapel, Dongan Hills, with a mass at 10 a.m. in St. Christopher's Church. Burial will follow in Moravian Cemetery, New Dorp.
