

Born Cathy Washington in Brooklyn, she was brought to Concord as a child. She returned to Brooklyn in 2001 before settling in Silver Lake last year.
Ms. Washington worked in Manhattan’s garment industry, spending the past six years as a trim buyer for Suzi Chin Maggy Boutique, Manhattan. She had also worked in the past for 10 years with Lasting Impressions, Manhattan.
Ms. Washington graduated from Murray Bergtraum High School, Manhattan. She went on to attend the Fashion Institute of Technology, where she studied production for the garment industry.
She was an avid reader, who also enjoyed traveling especially to the Caribbean. Her family said she was an exceptional godmother who enjoyed spending time with her three godchildren.
Ms. Washington enjoyed going to the movies and spending time with friends. She enjoyed walking everywhere and was happy to be back on Staten Island so she could walk in Silver Lake Park.
Ms. Washington was a history buff who was also a big fan of sports, especially football. She also enjoyed spending time with her family.
“Her smile was infectious and her heart was larger than life,” said Daphne McWilliams, her best friend of 40 years.
Also surviving are her mother, Willie Washington, and a brother, Greg Washington.
The funeral will be held tonight at 6:30 p.m. in the Harmon Home for Funerals, West Brighton. Burial will be in Moravian Cemetery, New Dorp.
