

Charlie Mikalsen, Born July 5th, 1936, passed away peacefully at home on September 4th, 2023, at 87 years old. Born in Brooklyn, New York, Charlie moved to Staten Island, attended, and graduated from New Dorp High School. Having a love for fishing and boating from working with his father at the Brooklyn Navy Yard, he enlisted in the United States Navy afterwards and was a radioman on several varying naval vessels throughout his tenure of service. Upon his return home, he attended RCA Institute to become an electrician. Once graduated, he worked for Honeywell as a Local #3 IBEW electrician until retiring in 1996 to spend more time with his family. Charlie was a Freemason for over 60 years, belonging to Huguenot Lodge #381 in Tottenville, and at one point, a Master Mason.
Charlie met the love of his life, Carol Jonasch, through studying for school. The pair were married in 1963 and went on to have two daughters; Raising a family in the Eltingville section of Staten Island.
Charlie was an avid fisherman who enjoyed spending his leisure time fishing on his boat, taking family vacations, watching sci-fi movies, playing video games, and fixing things around his house.
He is preceded in death by his father, Edward Mikalsen, his mother, Signe Mikalsen (née Olsen), his brother, Stanley Mikalsen, his sister, Silvia Kennedy (née Mikalsen), his wife, Carol Mikalsen (née Jonasch), and his daughter, Jodi Mikalsen.
He is survived in death by his daughter, Debra Lundwall (née Mikalsen), his niece, Kristin Broughton (née Mikalsen), his nephew, Karl Mikalsen, his son-in-law, Christopher Lundwall, his grandson, Justin Lundwall, and his great granddaughter, Braelynn Lundwall.
