I have been very blessed and fortunate to be given the chance to know and work with someone like you.  You are the BEST mentor that anyone could have.  Not only are you a great mentor, you are one of the best person I know.  The greatest gestures are ones that are unannounced and you showed me the meaning of that.  You are dearly missed.  Keep rocking on.

My wife and I cannot even begin to express the grief and sorrow we feel. Chris was an major anchor in my intellectual and emotional landscape and without him here, this world seems small, cold, insignificant and unbearably joyless. Chris was my teacher and my moral compass, always leading me to new thoughts and challenging my own. I never knew anyone with his independence of mind and wit. When Mei-Chih and I returned from Asia in the 90s, he and Paula embraced us like family. When we moved back to Asia, Chris was never far from my thoughts and always I believed that there would be more time to spend with him in our later years. Our hearts go out to Paula and the rest of Chris' family. We are bereaved.  We will hold a ceremony for our beloved brother at the Buddhist Temple in our village here in Taiwan. "Until we meet again, Brother."

Christopher Dorman, 51, of Westfield, NJ, accomplished lawyer, author, teacher and talented musician died November 24, 2014. Devoted husband, son, brother and uncle, he is survived by his wife, Paula Styles, his father, Alexander Dorman, brothers, Alexander, Clark and Jefferson and many loving nieces and nephews, his mother, Myra Dorman and sister, Kathleen Dorman having predeceased him.

Born on Staten Island, Chris attended St. Dorothy's Academy.  The family moved to Rensselaerville, NY in 1969 where he attended Greenville Middle School and Greenville High School.  He graduated St. John's University in Staten Island with a BA, graduated Columbia University, NY with a Masters Degree in Economics and Political Science, and earned his Juris Doctorate from St. John's University, Jamaica, NY.

Chris was a partner at the law firm Phillips Lytle LLP in NY where he worked from 1993 to 2014.  He concentrated his practice in the area of banking and commercial finance law with emphasis on international banking.

Chris was extremely active both professionally and personally.  He served as an executive board member of the Association of Commercial Finance Attorneys, he was a subcommittee member of the American Bar Association, a member of the New York State Bar Association and an International Law Committee member of the Law Society of England and Wales and on the membership committee Association of Corporate Growth. He was an Adjunct Professor at Rutgers University Law School, Newark, NJ. 

Chris was an avid biker, kayaker and traveler.  He was also a talented musician and played drums, saxophone and guitar.  In his earlier years he was a member of the band Bongo Genre.

To the best uncle a girl could ask for...we will  miss you always. Rest in peace.
