I worked with Colleen at New York Life many years ago.  She was such a nice person. We kept in touch for a few years after I left in 1990 and moved to Florida.  I did an internet search hoping to reconnect with her.  I’m so sad to learn of her passing.  I can’t believe it.  She was a wonderful person to work with.  

Please accept my sincere condolences. I worked with Colleen many years ago at New York Life. She was always smiling and was so sweet.  My thoughts are with all of you.

I am so very sorry to hear of Colleen's passing. I worked with her for many years at New York Life. She was such a sweet and gentle person--always cheerful and always smiling. Although I have not seen her since 1998, we kept in touch over the years through Christmas cards. My deepest syumpathy to her parents and sisters.

Dear Colleen,

This letter isn't "good-bye" it is "See Ya Later!!!!"

There are no words to express the loss of losing you.  You will be loved and missed by all you have touched through life.  I wish I could be with you all today, but I am in Florida and will be getting married this Saturday. 

My memories go back to our childhood, starting with Bensonhurst, Brooklyn, at our grandparents' house, Grandma Angelina and Grandpa Giovanni. I remember us lining up to say goodbye to Grandpa and kissing him one by one.  I also remember it being hard to be quiet in their house, without running, yelling or playing, when there were so many of us.    

The most fun times we had were at your house, playing Air Hockey--you were my partner a few times as well as Pam and Mary. Then there was the hockey game where you dropped the little puck and moved the guys around to get the puck in the goal and there was playing outside. I remember your other cousins who used to come over--the Rogan's.   I once asked you what your one cousin's name was because I thought he was nice and you just laughed.

Then there was Aunt Nellie's and Uncle John's house in Merrick, Long Island.  We always headed downstairs to play Ping Pong, again Colleen you were my partner.   I think we were down there most of the time we were there except when we ate.  Then there was Grandma Angelina and her “Famous Meatballs.”  I still can taste them!  But we only were allowed one each; and we were like, “Grandma we want more than one!”  

The best is this.  I once told you Grandma used to give me M&M's or Candy Kisses or money before we were ready to go home and she used to say, “Don't tell any of your cousins.”   Then, you told me she did the same thing to you.  That was funny. Here I thought I was special, but actually, we all were equally special to her.

The best part of having cousins like you were the family gatherings when we all could be together and see how everyone was doing.   I miss those days but the memories remain!!!!

Colleen, you are now an official ANGEL in heaven.   Say “Hello” to Daddy and the rest of our family!!

To The Battaglia Family: My thoughts and prayers are with you all at this difficult time.

Dear Aunt Kay, Uncle John, Pam, and Mary,
I wish there was something that I could do to ease your pain right now. I cannot put into words how badly my heart is aching for your family. Since my first introduction to the Rogan family the Battaglias have made me feel welcomed. I was immediately impressed by the relationship that the Battaglia girls had with each other. Having a sister I know the value of the sister thing but the Battaglia girls lived it. An example that I try to emulate when I am with my sister. I am not as good as the three of you. Colleen had a smile that was genuine. I am so grateful that Colleen was able to join me on my girls weekend in Florida. I will cherish those memories. The world is a better place because of Colleen. Humanity has lost an absolute treasure. Most importantly ( at least for me ) is that I am a better person because of Colleen. Thank you so much for sharing your life with me. I will continue to keep you all in my prayers and ask God to give you the strength you need to get through this moment. I Iove you all and ask God to bless you,

Dear Kay, John, Pam, Mary, and Mark,

I used to be a part of Steve's family and he sent me this notice today (June 26).  I am shocked by this news. Colleen was very special and I always enjoyed being with her at family events. It is hard to fathom this and I am holding you in my heart today and the days ahead as you adjust to her loss. As long as we have our minds, she will live on.  She will not be forgotten. Dear Uncle John, Aunt Kay, Pam, Mary and Mark, It seems odd to write your names without Colleen's along side them.  You must be heartbroken to have lost such a kind, gentle soul, both daughter and sister.  I will never forget our beginnings at the Battaglia household in Bensonhurst on what seemed like every Sunday of the year.   I am happy that Colleen has been part of my life and that I can call her, like you all, family.  She has taught us to be strong in adversity and resilient in sadness.  See you tomorrow.  Jimmy
