I can remember when I met my future father in law in Staten Island. He came home , walked past the door of his living room, stopped, came back, paused and asked "who are you?" He was a man of few words, but what he did say meant volumes. When I asked for his daughter Patti's hand in marriage after only 3 months, he said " She is the youngest and she is expensive!" He trusted  me with one of his most precious treasures and welcomed me into his family. I am forever grateful for his willingness to take a chance on me, his quiet strength, patience and spiritual humility. I want to thank him for his sacrifice for this country during the Korean War and his unwavering dedication to his family. He will be missed but not forgotten.

I remember traveling to Staten Island to visit Nana and Grandpa. Grandpa would load everyone up and he would take us to Perkins to eat. When I think of Perkins, I remember Grandpa's amused smile every time i ordered my food, because for years i would order the same thing, a full stack of their chocolate chip pancakes. He would always ask if i was going to be able to eat all of that and he was always astounded that i could. When everyone was done and it was time to leave, Grandpa would always let us get our favorite muffins or cookies to take home. Whenever I see or think about Perkins,  I will always think of those fun times i had with Grandpa and everyone. I'll miss you Grandpa, you will always be in my heart and in my thoughts.

My memory of my grandpa Curtis was when he and my grandma came to visit us in west point, New York.  he sat with me on the front porch of our old house and talked to me about how me and my siblings made his life a happy one.   it made me feel so blessed that i was one of his grandkids and i was proud that he was one of my grandfathers. I will miss him terribly and the days we had. but now he is now with his wife and my grandmother Ruby in God's kingdom.  To all of my grandpa's siblings, my grandpa would say that we should remember him the way we knew him best.  As a great man, who helped others,  a kind brother to his siblings, and a loving grandpa who loved his daugher patti and her family.  May you rest in Peace, grandpa Curtis, and thank u for all the memories you have given all of us.  

My Dad was well,  my Dad.  A man of few words unless he was telling a story about his siblings or growing up in Mississippi.  Those stories were the best. I learned a lot he did not say about himself listening to those stories.  He taught me to listen. He worked hard. I have so many great memories of my Dad, ...dancing at the Father-Daughter dance at Villa, holding onto the back of my first purple bike, buying Smokey (our dog )his own icecream cone at Carvel.  The best memory is him standing in the rain at Toys R Us to get me a newborn Black Cabbage Patch doll because they were sold out everywhere. He gave me that doll and said, " That is the ugliest doll you have ever owned," but he stood in the rain for hours to get it.   Dad lived his life. He loved and was loved.

Dad, you were always my rock. Always there for me. I am so blessed to have You as my Father. We had so many good times in Nevada. Mike and I loved seeing you, taking you out and having you at our home. Holidays without You will never be the same.  Their is a hole in my heart. You will always be with Me and Mike.  Always.

I am so sad to hear of your passing Mr. Brown. You were a wonderful man who loved your wife and daughters so. When I saw you for the last time 2 years ago you greeted Gary and I with your signature smile and a warm hug as you always did. I enjoyed our visit so much and will always keep the memory in my heart. Rest peacefully Mr. Brown and watch over and continue to guide Beverly through life. Hugs to Mrs. Brown as you both are united again .  Your smile and words of wisdom will be missed. God Bless you and may God welcome you with open arms. Diane and Gary Petersen 

Curtis was a truly wonderful man and was always happy when I saw him.  He had a light that always shined.  When we went to visit him when I was out in Vegas he was so happy to see me as I was happy to see him.  Beverly you are truly a great and inspiring Daughter, I'm proud of you.  You and Mike took great care of Dad.   Beverly remember Dad is always by your side.  Mom & Dad will be watching out for you.  Remember the memories, they will help you thru this.

Uncle Curtis was the patriarch  with so much love, concern and compassion for the entire family. He was and will remain the prime example of leading by love for family.  He made the long drive to Mississippi many times from Staten Island to check on us and spend quality time. He made every effort to visit with each family during those visits showing up with that handsome smile and big hugs. Between visits, he would call if he became aware of any concerns or illnesses within the family.
Uncle Curtis has truly earned his eternal rest and peace.  Now, he he is  joined with  Aunt Ruby along with family and friends. We will always love, remember and appreciate him.
