

Dahlia was born on November 24th 1964 in Kingston, Jamaica before she immigrated to the U.S. at the age of 9. Dahlia grew up in the Bronx, New York during her adolescence and moved to Staten Island, New York in early adulthood to grow her family. There, Dahlia raised her three children Marques (42), Patrice (39) and Ashley (34) while working in investment banking to support her family.
Dahlia was known for her compassionate spirit, determination and passion for life. She had a deep love for her family, friends and community and always offered support to the people in her life.
Dahlia loved adventure and new experiences. At the age of 46 Dahlia uprooted her life and moved to the Philippines for two years when she received a job opportunity that would continue to support her family. There she formed lifelong bonds and connections.
But when she returned to the U.S. in 2012 she realized she wanted to follow a new passion and become an educator. In 2014 Dahlia completed her Bachelor of Arts English with a minor in Psychology and graduated Cum Laude at the College of Staten Island. In 2018 Dahlia received her Masters of Science in Education at Hunter College. At this time, Dahlia began her teaching career at School of the Future as a Math & Science Learning Specialist for 6th graders. Dahlia loved teaching and poured her heart into it until her passing.
Dahlia is survived by her children, grandchildren, siblings, nieces, nephews, cousins, and a large community of chosen family and friends. She will be remembered as a kind, powerful, upbeat, caring, and passionate person who touched countless lives. Before she passed Dahlia made it known that she wants her loved ones to live their lives to the fullest and pursue the opportunities that will bring them joy and happiness.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday January 25th from 1pm-5pm and Sunday January 26th from 9am-12pm at Harmon Funeral Home, 571 Forest Ave. Staten Island, NY 10310.
