

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. - Daniel E. Donaldson Jr., 92, of Great Kills, a retired union electrician, talented musician and loving family man, died Thursday in the Staten Island University Hospital, in Ocean Breeze.
The longtime Staten Islander was born in Jersey City, but was brought to Grant City as a boy. He moved to Tompkinsville in 1947 and settled in Great Kills in 1954.
Mr. Donaldson served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
A member of Local 3, International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, he was an electrician for 30 years, working primarily in Manhattan, including at the former New York Coliseum. He retired in 1982 and was a member of the IBEW retirees' association..
Mr. Donaldson loved fishing and boating and was a member of the Great Kills Yacht Club. During his lifetime, he owned a number of boats, including one called the "Salty Alice."
He was a talented musician and played the viola in a string quartet and trumpet in the South Shore Marching Band. He also loved to garden, especially growing tomatoes.
Surviving are his wife of 30 years, the former Alice Farley; his sons, Dennis and Daniel III; a sister, Agnes McIsaac, and five grandchildren.
Arrangements, including cremation, are being handled by the Casey McCallum Rice South Shore Funeral Home, Great Kills.
