Born in Schnectady, he was brought to Staten Island as a child and raised in New Dorp.
Mr. Piliere graduated from New Dorp High School and attended the College of Staten Island. He was employed as an interstate tractor-trailer driver, and worked for Michael's Moving & Storage in Mariners Harbor for 15 years.
"He was a very, very happy person, a jokester, and everybody who met him liked him right away," said his wife of 15 years, Doreen Spinelli. "He was everyone's best friend. He was my best friend, too. I loved him from the day I met him."
Mr. Piliere, a lifelong Jets fan, enjoyed attending football games, going to the movies, and spending time with his family, especially his 9-year-old son, Daniel. He was looking forward to the birth of his stepdaughter Tiffany's first child, in June. He also treasured a close relationship with his older sister, Josephine Egan, family said.
In addition to his wife, Doreen, son, Daniel, stepdaughter Tiffany, and sister Josephine, he is survived by his stepson, William Spinelli; his mother, Bridget White; his brother, Jesse, and another sister, Nicole Fluty.
The funeral service will be Thursday at 8:15 p.m. in the Casey McCallum Rice South Shore Funeral Home in Great Kills. Arrangements include cremation.
