I am so sorry for your loss.  I had Mr. Stoddard at JHS Bernstein.  He was a good teacher and also taught us some life lessons.  RIP  Mr. Stoddard.

I was sorry to hear of Dans passing. Dan was a real asset to the 
A Legion Boys State Program. I am the Program Director and Dan always stepped up and did what ever we asked him to do.
He always had a joke or story to tell.
As a retired teacher I hope that I am rembered to my students as fondly as Dan's

I had Mr. Stoddard for English back in the early 70's and remember him well.  He was tough but fair and I remember him telling us that we wouldn't really understand some of the things that he was teaching us until we were grown-ups.  Well, I was fortunate enough to run into him many years later and got a chuckle out of him when I told him that he was right!   I still think about him from time to time and I am saddened to learn of his passing.  He was one of my favorites.

Reading this is very sad. I had Mr Stoddard in the early 80's as a teacher. At the time, I thought he was being hard on me. Later in life, I realized that it was him and a few others along the way that saw I needed to nudged in the right direction and cared enough to do so. Thanks for taking the time to give me the nudge. It was needed and appreciated. Rest easy.

May he rest in peace.  May his good works go on to inspire others to follow such a path. May God Bless his family and friends and may his faith and legacy live on in them.  Well done good soldier !

Mr. Stoddard was an outstanding man who was very admired by myself and my brothers.  We grew up next door to him and I can not think of a better neighbor and role model than Mr. Dan Stoddard.  His accomplishments and his life of service to his country, New York City, Staten Island, the catholic Church, family and neighborhood are respected by all who had the pleasure of knowing him. He always had a funny joke or a pleasant story to share with us.  He would throw around a football with the kids on the block or offer advice on fixing the car as we got older.  He will be missed by the O'Brien family and we will remember him with fond memories.

My greatest memory of Mr. Stoddard was when he played "Edelweiss" on the reel-to-reel in class one day and sang along. Such a nice man.

I remember Mr. Stoddard as my 6th grade teacher at IS7 almost 40 years ago.  I have great memories of him as my favorite English teacher.  What a legacy he left that 40 years later, everyone has warm and fond memories to recall. Thank you for your many years of service to your country, state and kids of the city of Staten Island. Danny lives on in memory as a superb human being with a true spirit of consistent decency and a remarkable sense of humor.

He was a wonderful neighbor, and did so much for so many others in his active lifetime, and sometimes thanklessly from some others, yet always cheerfully to all nonetheless.

His rare accomplishments of honorable service to NYC are only a partial description of his life, because he was also a very positive influence to younger people, becoming an example of character to others, including myself.

Sincerest condolences to Danny Stoddard's equally wonderful family members.

I remember him as a substitute teacher in 1959 or 1960.  Had him for ONE class!!! What a personality!!! Good man, R.I.P.

Mr. Stoddard was my sixth grade teacher at Bernstein Junior High School.  He instilled a sense of determination in his students and we knew he was a man of faith.  As a matter of fact, I was just thinking of him recently while I was reading C.S. Lewis.  I never had the opportunity to thank him or tell him the impression he had on me.
I admired the man.  May he rest in peace.

Mr. Stoddard was one of my   english teachers at bernstein.  You could tell he was a kind, good person.  He did tell the best stories and kept us students interested, even if the material was occasionally a bit dry.  He was a good man, and we were lucky to have such a well rounded person as our teacher.  I thought of Mr. Stoddard often over the years.  The thoughts were always peaceful and calming.
