Deirdre E. Keiser, Staten Island, NY, age 73, passed away peacefully on February 28, 2021. She was born July 12, 1947 in Yonkers, New York to Lawrence and Ellen (Robbs) Rice. Deirdre was known by her family and friends as Dee Dee. She married the love of her life John A. Keiser on May 25, 1968 at Assumption Church in Staten Island. In June of 2018 they had celebrated their 50th Wedding Anniversary Jubilee at St. Patrick's Cathedral in New York officiated by Cardinal Dolan. He predeceased her November 1, 2020.
She leaves behind her children Michele, Lori Ellen and John; sons-in-law Fredrick Romano, Steven Orlando and her daughter-in-law Lynn Keiser; her grandchildren and granddaughter-in-law, Steven and Christina Orlando, John Paul Keiser, Kayla Orlando, Ariel Keiser, Abigail Keiser, Alexander Keiser and Fredrick Romano; her beloved dog Daisy Rose; her brother Thomas Rice; her sister Catherine and brother-in-law James Sweeney; her many nephews, nieces and cousins. All of whom she loved and touched deeply.
Dee graduated from McKee High School in 1966. For many years she worked for the NYPD as a School Safety Sergeant before her Retirement in 2007. She lived an active life, enjoyed travelling, shopping for family, chatting over a good cup of tea or a glass of wine, reading a good book or spending time with friends and loved ones.
Her daughter Lori Ellen told us "She will look for her mother in all that she sees. Her mother loved her family deeply and was a friend, confidant, and she would be your biggest fan." Dee was kind, loving, beautiful, generous and quick-witted. She showed she cared with a warm smile and could also tell you what you needed to hear even if it isn't what you wanted to hear. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
Visitation will be held on Friday, March 4, 2021, between 2-4 and 7-9pm at Harmon Funeral Home, 571 Forest Avenue, Staten Island, NY 10301. The Mass will be held at Our Lady of Good Counsel Saturday at 10am and the burial to follow at St. Peter's Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Deirdre's memory may be made to the ASPCA or the NYC PBA.
