

Dennis Brackett was a lifelong Staten Islander Who was born on December 9, 1933. Dennis grew up in Stapleton and attended PS 12 and Curtis High School. He proudly served in the United States Air Force, stationed in Japan, during the Korean War. After being honorably discharged from the service, he had a career with the FDNY from 1960 through 1986 serving in fire houses in Manhattan, and eventually in the West Brighton, section of Staten Island. After retiring from the fire department, he worked as a school bus driver for the Pioneer Bus Company for 10 years.
Growing up, Dennis was a member of Vanderbilt Ave. Moravian Church, and later attended Great Kills Moravian church where he served as a sacristan and sang in the choir. He loved all sports, particularly baseball. He coached boys baseball teams at the East Shore Little league.
In retirement, Dennis enjoyed the company of his family and many close friends. He was an avid golfer, playing courses throughout Staten Island, New Jersey, Pennsylvania and beyond. He was an active member in the Allan F. Kivlehan chapter of the Korean War Veterans Association on Staten Island. In his later years, Dennis enjoyed watching sports of all kinds, and was a crossword puzzle master.
He is survived by his wife of 66 years Louise (Laib), a daughter Laura Bossert (Jim), a son Dennis (Carolyn), seven grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. He loved spending time with them all and always considered himself a rich man in the way that matters most, “His Family”!
Visitation will be held at Casey-McCallum Rice Funeral Home, located at 30 Nelson Avenue, Staten Island, NY 10308, on January 3, 2026, from 9:00 am to 10:15 am.
The funeral service will take place at Great Kills Moravian Church, located at 62 Hillside Terrace, Staten Island, NY 10308, on January 3, 2026, starting at 10:45 am.
