I can only begin to share so many memories about Dom. Late nights at Del Montes, then going out to eat after we closed to Ponte Vecchio, Vincents or Joes Clam Bar. Too much wine and cognac. Ordering pizza from Pino's on Bath Ave. Too much coffee. Mets games on in the office. Movies at your house. Terrible not funny jokes that were too long. You always making work fun.

I was 9 years old when Donnie and I first met in April 1953.  I was in 4th grade at PS 201. I was sick with rheumatic fever and had to stay home in bed while I was being treated. Donnie volunteered to come visit me. We became fast friends since then. We had quite a few teenage adventures together. A funny one was our vacation to Haines Falls in the Catskills where we stayed at his uncle’s place. The highlight of the trip was when we entered the ballroom of an Italian vacation resort and received a standing ovation from the crowd. To our surprised they thought we were a popular Brooklyn singing group. Donnie was quick on his feet and thanked the crowd but said unfortunately we couldn’t perform for them that night because we were under contract elsewhere. He had an interesting career. Butcher in his father business, civil servant with New York City, and then owner and operator of Del Monte Catering. He was a good example of being able to be very successful without having attended college. He was very fortunate in meeting and marrying Joyce, the love of his life. With his health situation slowly affecting him, Dom never became bitter about it but dealt with it with a positive attitude. I helped organize an annual reunion with Donnie and Joyce. I remember the day we walked into his kitchen at Beaver Place, he was in the kitchen preparing a meal for our visit.  He tore off a piece of Italian bread dipped it in the sauce in the pot cooking on the stove and handed a piece to Ron Bove and me. It was delicious. Bill Santino, George Siciliano, and Ron Brancaccio later joined us. Donnie always enjoyed our visits and told us it was one of his best days.  The feast he would prepare for us reminded us of the Del Monte. I thank Joyce for being such a wonderful caring wife. We loved each other like brothers. I will miss him but know that now he is finally at rest. While he is gone, he lives on in all the good memories I have of him

You were really a brother and my Best Man when I married. We laughed and cried together and were friends for so long, I don't know when we were not keeping in touch.  We raised our sons and did the best we could just to get through this wonderful task of life.  It was harder for you I know, but  you kept your strength as best you could and had a beautiful wife to get you through.
Now that you are at peace with no more pain, I know my wife Antoinette will give you a hug when you see her in heaven.  I know she'll take your hand and talk about the memories we all made with our families.
As my tears continue thinking about the 49 year love affair I had with my wife, you will be part of the beautiful memories I have.  The good Lord gave me a beautiful wife and a friend that turned out to be a brother.  How fortunate I was.  I love you both.

Uncle Dominick,  you were the sweetest uncle, and so funny, telling your jokes and making us laugh.. I’ll never forgot our sausage making class with Josette, what a riot!! I will never forget the fun we had and how much fun u were!! We had a lot of laughs, thank u for the special times!! You will be missed!! Rest now and walk into paradise, as you will be an Angel shinning upon us, you are safe now without pain and suffering. We love you Uncle Dominick.. Rest In Peace
