

On July 10, 1944 Don was born in Palm Beach, FL to the late Anthony Cammarano & Helen Cammarano (nee Bilotti). Growing up Don lived with his parents and his sister Joyce in Staten Island. Don enjoyed going fishing and hunting with his father, especially when they visited his home in Walton, NY. Don attended Curtis High School and then went on to study electronics technology at the RCA Institute. Don spent many years as a field engineer for Harris Communication. He worked with communication equipment and frequently traveled to many different countries for work.
Later he went to work for the New York Post in the pagination department until his retirement. Don married his wife Liz and together they had two children, Anthony and Donald, in addition to Liz’s daughter, Christine. Though Don’s relationship with Liz wasn't permanent, they remained friends for many years and frequently spoke on the phone.They also spent time together at family gatherings with their children and grandchildren.
Don loved his dog, Dino, who he took care of and loved to spend time with. Don enjoyed the traditions the family had during holidays and birthdays. He made homemade wine which he loved to share with family and friends. He enjoyed cooking and some of his favorite dishes were meatballs, eggplant parmigiana, pizza grana, pizzagaina, zeppole and steak. He also liked to entertain family and friends with barbecues in the backyard of their home. Don and his family spent time going upstate, where they would go sledding, canoeing, swimming at the town pool, playing board games, hunting, shooting and watching movies. Don also liked to practice archery and would frequently visit the Willowbrook Archery Range in Willowbrook Park.
Don was a devoted father, grandfather, and friend who loved his family and friends deeply. He had a love for hunting and cooking and enjoyed those activities as often as possible. Along with his parents, Don is predeceased by his sister Joyce. He is survived by his sons, Anthony (Cynthia) and Donald (Carmen), his step-daughter Christine Leonardis
(Lou), and his four cherished grandchildren, Enzo, Stella, Rocco and Dean.
A visitation for Donald will be held Friday, June 6, 2025 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM and from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Casey Funeral Home, 350 Slosson Ave, Staten Island, NY 10314.
A mass of Christian burial will occur Saturday, June 7, 2025 from 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM at St. Teresa of the Infant Jesus Roman Catholic Church, 1634 Victory Blvd, New York, NY 10314.
A committal service will occur Saturday, June 7, 2025 from 11:30 AM to 12:00 PM at Resurrection Cemetery, 361 Sharrott Ave, New York, NY 10309.
