Donald was born on October 11, 1935, in New York City to Emma Malatesta and Leroy Moresco. He grew up in Dongan Hills and attended New Dorp High School where he played basketball. Donald was an avid golfer, an expert craftsman, and a talented artist. Donald also spent countless hours at his father's establishment, Lee's Tavern, making pizzas in the kitchen; his children and grandchildren could never get enough of them.
Donald was a New York City Firefighter for almost 40 years and was assigned to Engine 228 and then Engine 156 and finished up as a Chief’s Aide at Battalion 22, Staten Island. After his retirement, he enjoyed working at La Tourette Golf Course and spending time with his family.
Donald met his beautiful wife, Elaine, at Lee's Tavern. They recently celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary. They have three daughters, Susan, Meg, and Elaine. Being a kind and dependable father and grandfather was of utmost importance to Donald and he certainly did not disappoint when it came to wholeheartedly loving his family.
With his wife of 60 years, Elaine, Donald had three daughters, Susan (Anthony), Meg (Randy), and Elaine (Doug), seven grandchildren, Heather Pelletier and her partner Asi Maman, Jessica and her husband Matthew Stokes, Justin and his wife Terese Armstrong, Maria, Anthony, Adrianna and Christopher, and two great-grandchildren, Elliotte and Emery. He is also survived by his sister, Donna Luisi and nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother, Joseph.
The funeral service will be held at St. Ann's Church on Tuesday, October 27, 2020 at 10 a.m. There will be visitation at the Harmon Funeral Home on Monday from 3 to 7 p.m.
