Donald Charles O'Brien

Donald Charles O'Brien, 87 West Brighton family man and USMC veteran of Korean War Donald Charles O'Brien was born in the Rosebank section of Staten Island on Aug. 26, 1931. He remained an Islander residing in his West Brighton home for the last 55 years. Don passed away peacefully on Feb. 27, 2019 surrounded by his adoring family. He was 87 years old, a graduate of Wagner College and McKee High School. He was a Korean War veteran serving honorably in the US Marine Corps. He is survived by his loving wife, Charlotte; his three children, Phillip, Marjorie and Joseph; his two grandchildren, Michael and Jessica, and his younger brother, Thomas. Don worked at Chase Manhattan Bank for 25 years, retiring in 1988. He loved family above all, and was loved by all who knew him. Don enjoyed his spare time by playing golf, watching sports, working on cars, and playing multiple instruments including; the ukulele, guitar, piano, etc. The services will be held on Saturday, March 2, at Harmon Funeral Home, West Brighton, between the hours of 11 and and 1 p.m. The family would appreciate that in lieu of flowers a donation to the Veterans Association (VA) or charity of your choice.
