Donna Marie Barcia passed away in Staten Island University Hospital on February 24, 2020, surrounded by her family.
Donna was born in the Bronx to the late Alice Barcia-Sala and the late Frank Barcia. Her family moved to New Jersey and then to Staten Island in 1964. She had lived in Great Kills ever since.
Donna graduated from Tottenville High School, attended The College of Staten Island and graduated from the DeVry Institute. She was employed by Staten Island University Hospital for many years in the radiology department.
One of Donna's many hobbies was woodworking. She was very creative and talented and every family member has some of her creations in their home. She also loved being outdoors and
was often seen riding her bike around the island.
Her greatest joy in life was her interaction with animals. Her dogs Willie, Sam, Alex and Theo brought her many years of enjoyment, as did the birds and wildlife that she fed in her back
yard. Animal and pet videos on the internet always brought a smile to her face and she loved
sharing them with family and friends.
Donna is survived by her beloved partner, Lucille Hanchuck, her sister Jeanne Rossini (Marty) and her brother Anthony Barcia (Jill). She is the aunt of Michael Rossini, Lisa Costello and Katie Rossini and the great aunt of Victoria and Emily Rossini, Alyssa, Ryan and Ben Costello, and
Kase, Calvin and Colton Krupa.
As per Donna's wishes there will be no funeral, but she would like you to remember her
compassion for animals, and to think of her and smile.
