Dorothy "Ann" Felton died at her home of cancer on February 13, 2022. She was born on September 27, 1949 in Stony Point, New York to parents Mary Dorothy Williams and Leland Seifert. Ann, as she was called, attended New York University where she met her husband Duane Felton. Ann's love for children was apparent when she became a dedicated teacher and then Assistant Director for the Camden County Head Start Program in Camden, New Jersey. Later, she would affectionately reminisce about relationships she built with her students. It was always her goal to help children reach their fullest potential through love and support. Ann moved to Staten Island with her husband in 1982 and they resided in West Brighton. When Ann decided she was ready for children of her own, she fulfilled her life-long desire to adopt. Even though it was her initial intention to only adopt two, she would joke, "I just couldn't stop!" Over an eight-year period, Ann and Duane were the adoptive parents of four children who Ann dedicated the remainder of her life to. At home, she had an open-door policy for all of her children's friends and family. For this reason, her children were able to build life-long friendships. Her welcoming personality and maternal instinct made her a mother figure to many. Ann was employed as a legal secretary for over 20 years first with her husband and then for the Law firm of Thomas Kyle. When she would go to social events, she was the life of the party. She never passed up an opportunity to dance, whether it be on the dance floor surrounded by people, at a concert, or in the kitchen alone. Music was always a love of hers. If you needed a word of advice, tough love, or a shoulder to cry on, Ann was ready to provide it. Never did she say "I told you so" when you didn't heed her warnings. Instead, she would give comfort and a big hug. She proved she could always be counted on. "Granny" was a title she wore proudly. When she became a Grandmother, it was the highlight of her life. She was excited to shower her grandchildren with love, teach them and guide them along the way. Ann Felton leaves behind four children: Duane L. Felton, Alison Lopez, Aaron Felton, and Jessica Felton; her husband Duane C. Felton; five grandchildren: Isaiah Hall, Elijah Horn, Joshua Hall, Samuel Lopez, and Eden Lopez; her brother John Seifert, sisters-in-Law Diane Felton, Linda Felton, and Karen Felton-Handley; nieces: Ericker Onaga-Phillips, Jeanine Atherton, Faith Munford, Meghan Banacki, Nichele Felton and Lynnese Handley; nephews: James Seifert, Christopher Seifert and Jachin Chandler.
