

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. -- Dorothy E. Rudolph, 90, of Eltingville, a retired insurance clerk who will be remembered for her sweet disposition and kindhearted nature, died Tuesday in Carmel Richmond Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center, Dongan Hills, where she had resided for five months.
Born Dorothy E. Johnson in Manhattan, she grew up in Brooklyn and graduated from Franklin K. Lane High School there.
Mrs. Rudolph settled in Eltingville in 1962.
She worked at many positions during her 50-year career. She retired as a clerk in the records department of AIG Insurance in Manhattan.
A loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, she doted on her family. Mrs. Rudolph also enjoyed gardening, visits to Atlantic City and watching sports and game shows on television.
She was a devout parishioner of Holy Child R.C. Church, Eltingville, where she participated in Daily Adoration.
Her husband of 57 years, John, died in 2004.
Surviving are her sons, John and Edward; her daughter, Linda Joyce; a brother, Charles Johnson; a sister, Eleanor Morris; eight grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be Saturday from the Casey McCallum Rice South Shore Funeral Home, Great Kills, with a mass at 10 a.m. in Holy Child Church. Burial will follow in Resurrection Cemetery, Pleasant Plains.
