

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. -- Dorothy K. Sodano, 84, of Castleton Corners, a homemaker who enjoyed watching baseball and solving crossword puzzles, died Tuesday in Clove Lakes Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center, Castleton Corners, where she had been a patient for the last six weeks.
Born Dorothy Kennedy in Brooklyn, she moved to Castleton Corners 48 years ago.
A homemaker, Mrs. Kennedy enjoyed baseball and was a former Brooklyn Dodgers fan, and later a fan of the New York Mets. She enjoyed solving crossword puzzles and watching the television game show "Jeopardy!" She also enjoyed taking vacations with her family and visiting Atlantic City.
"My mother was a wonderful person who touched the heart of everyone she met," said her son, Robert.
Mrs. Sodano was a parishioner of St. Teresa's R.C. Church. Castleton Corners.
Her husband of 52 years, George W. Sodano, died in 2004.
In addition to her son, Robert, she is survived by a daughter, Janet Sodano Franzel; a brother, Dennis Rydstrom; a sister, Virginia LeDonne, and one grandson.
The funeral will be Saturday from the Casey Funeral Home, Castleton Corners, with a mass at 10:15 a.m. in St. Teresa's Church. Arrangements include cremation.
