Edith Mae Shelton worked since she was 17 when she started at McCrory stores, until 2007 when she stopped working at Davis Polk. She had retired in 2004 and worked part-time for three more years in the accounting department. She always worked hard. She was fair and loyal to her employer. She was a friend to many. She was a mother and friend to me all of my 54 years on this earth. She will be missed by me and those who knew and/or loved her.
While she was not perfect, she was human. Those of you who did not know or did not get a chance to meet her missed out on being a friend or acquaintance to a fine lady.
Twenty-Third Psalm
The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.
He maketh me to lie down in green pastures;
He leadeth me beside the still waters. He
restoreth my soul; He leadeth me in the
paths of righteousness for His name’s sake.
Yea, though I walk through the valley of
the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for
Thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they
comfort me. Thou preparest a table before
me in the presence of mine enemies: Thou
anointest my head with oil, my cup runneth
over. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow
me all the days of my life: and I shall dwell
in the house of the Lord forever.
