COLUCCI, Edward of Dongan Hills on April 11, 2018, Age 99 Beloved husband of the late Philomena (nee Soldivera) Devoted father of Robert Cherished brother of the late Anthony, Albert, NIck, Pauline Vaccaro, Norma Donovan and Edith Chiriani. Edward is also survived by his beloved companion Tina Pignataro Edward was a U.S. Army World War II Veteran (45th Infantry Division) where he was awarded the Bronze Star. His combat experience included the battle of Anzio in Italy. He volunteered one month after the Pearl Harbor attack. He married the late Philomena Soldivera shortly after his discharge in 1945 and together they had one son Robert. He was a resident of Dongan Hills until his passing. HIs trade was a tool and die maker before a career with the Metropolitan Transit Authority as a brake maintainer. Edward was an active member of Hunter-Pasquilini American Legion Post for the last 75 years. He excelled in golfing and won a Senior Olympic Award of the year for golf 2011. He belonged to the La Tourette Golf Club. Edward was team member of the Hunter-Pasquilini Bowling Team for the last seventy years. The Staten Island Advance recognized him several times for his Italian Vegetable Garden Excellence. He was a longtime parishioner of St. Ann's Church in Dongan Hills. Edward's character was one of kindness, a soft spoken nature, generosity and a helping hand to all.
