

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. -- Edward W. Piscina, 28, of Grymes Hills, a banking assistant vice president who will be remembered as a man of few words and great courage, died Thursday at home after a long battle with brain cancer.
Mr. Piscina was born and raised in Dongan Hills. After he and Christina Roperti married, the couple settled in Grymes Hill.
A graduate of Monsignor Farrell High School, Mr. Piscina earned a bachelor's degree in business management from St. Joseph's University, Philadelphia, where he spent a semester abroad in Australia.
Mr. Piscina worked as an assistant vice president at Jeffries, a global investment banking firm in Manhattan.
He loved the outdoors, especially traveling to Montana and Wyoming. He enjoyed hiking, skiing and cycling.
He is survived by his wife of two years, Christina, his parents, Edward and Rosemarie Piscina; his brother Daniel; his paternal grandfather, Edward Piscina and his maternal grandmother, Marie Lagomarsino.
The funeral will be Monday from the Casey Funeral Home, Castleton Corners, with a mass at 9:45 a.m. in St. Ann's R.C. Church, Dongan Hills. Burial will follow in Moravian Cemetery, New Dorp.
