I just learned of Ed's passing today on his birthday. Ed first started conducting business with my company over twenty-six years ago in 1996 and he was always the consummate professional and a really nice guy.  He will be missed.

I knew Ed from my time spent at CTV. He was always a kind and thoughtful person to anyone who crossed his path. His Island Hop Show, for so many years, is a Staten Island favorite. I will miss, Ed very much. He was a true patriot in so many ways. God bless Ed and his entire family. 

Today I celebrate 30 years of sobriety. Eddie was instrumental in helping me to achieve this. He taught me my trade and set me on my career path. I will always treasure my time at Eastern Investigational Services and the many Island Hop shows we did produced at S.I. Cable. The world has suffered a great loss of a kind and caring man.  Rest In Peace dear friend.

Ed was a very tough, very generous, very kind man. When my father passed away he stood next to me at the grave, and when he shook my hand to express his condolences, his firm and sincere grip helped me when I needed it most. Then after the funeral he took my family out to dinner. My deepest condolences to Ed's family and everyone who loved him. He was a special man.

Thank you for being such a huge presence in both Finn's and my life over these years. You are loved and will be missed tremendously. 

It is with the heaviest of hearts that we announce the passing of NYPD Sergeant Edward P. Salek Jr. (retired). A man who fought tirelessly for higher wages for police officers as a trustee with the PBA and  again for proper benefits for retired members as Vice President of the SBA. 

A Vietnam NAVY veteran, little league coach, accomplished writer, community board member, ally to the local veteran community , lover of all Things Doo- Wop, concert  promoter, Beloved father and most importantly best friend.  

Ed was the General Manager of Staten Island Community Television. His passion for music was expressed through hosting his television show Island Hop. Early in his life he was part of the doo-wop scene as it emerged. He carried the torch through the decades by promoting shows such as back to the beach, and reviving other doo-wop bands in the process. 

He is survived by his children  Michael, James, Steve, Darlene. Rosemarie his significant other. Finneus, Aiden, Abigail, Isabella, Justin and Ashley.  

Ed was a wonderful person who truly was an inspiration to us on CTV. He would always tell us how he loved our show and thought it was one of the best on CTV. He would also say how positive we are not only for CTV but for Staten Island. His words would inspire us to create more shows. Thank you Ed for supporting us on CTV. You will be missed love Chris and Lisa
