Elaine L. Sammon (nee Federici), 94, of Staten Island, New York, passed away on Friday, August 14, 2026, surrounded by her loving family. Elaine was born in Stapleton in 1932 in the home of her parents, Arthur and Marie Federici. Mrs. Sammon graduated St. John's Villa in 1950 and continued to meet with her classmates for lunch for the next 60 years. Mrs. Sammon worked for Chemical Bank for over 25 years, retiring in 1985. Active in the community, she began volunteering her time to work with the elderly at Verrazano Nursing Home until July of 2012.
An independent woman, Elaine raised her two daughters after her loving husband, Harold, passed away in 1971. She was a stylish dresser and always enjoyed her weekly trip to the hair salon. An avid bowler, Mrs. Sammon was a member of various leagues at Bowling on the Green.
She excelled at making floral arrangements, loved to cook and enjoyed watching the Food Network. Her famous lasagna was featured at all special family occasions. Elaine loved watching Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy and playing Pokeno with her friends at Allied Manor.
Elaine was predeceased by her sister, Helen Federici in 2020.
Mrs. Sammon is survived by her daughters, Diane Giordano (Abe) & Barbara D'Aquila (Cosmo); her granddaughters Amanda Lopez, Tiffany D’Aquila, Justine Glasse (Rick), Melissa Sweet (Jay), and Erin Flores (Carlos), and four great-grandchildren: Isabella, Victoria, Sean and “her baby” Killian.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Elaine’s honor to God’s Love We Deliver or St. Jude’s Children Hospital.

Visitation will be held at Casey Funeral Home, 350 Slosson Ave, Staten Island, NY 10314, US, on August 17, 2026, from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm.
A Mass Of Christian Burial will take place at St. Sylvester Roman Catholic Church, 856 Targee St, Staten Island, NY 10304, on August 18, 2026, from 10:00 am to 11:00 am, followed by Committal at St. Peter's Cemetery, 52 Tyler Ave, Staten Island, NY 10310, on August 18, 2026, from 11:30 am to 12:00 pm.
