OBITUARY
Elizabeth Ann Denault
April 27, 1930 – April 2, 2021
Elizabeth, known as Betty, was born on April 27th, 1930, to Gerald and Alice Cosgrove of Davis Avenue, West Brighton, Staten Island. Betty attended Sacred Heart School and was a 1948 graduate of Saint Peter’s High School. Upon graduation, she commuted by ferry while working various office jobs in lower Manhattan. She married Robert A. Denault, Jr., of East New York, Brooklyn, in 1953. The couple lived in Brooklyn for a time and settled finally in Eltingville on Woods of Arden Road, living there for over fifty years. Betty and Bob raised their four children in the Catholic faith and were parishioners of The Church of the Holy Child, Eltingville. Upon Bob’s death in 2014, Betty relocated with her intellectually disabled daughter, Jeanmarie to Stafford, Virginia, to live with her other daughter Suzanne and her family. Known for her tart sense of humor, Betty loved getting together with family for barbeques, bowling and bridge. Betty was the eldest of eight children and is survived by her sisters Maryalice, Jane, and Kathleen and her brother Gerald. Betty was predeceased by her brothers John, Thomas, and Edward, her brothers-in-law Richard Joinson, Theodore Lee and Jack Denault and her sister-in-law Ann Foran Cosgrove. Also surviving Betty are her children Robert, Edward, Jeanmarie and Suzanne; her grandchildren Erica, Gina, Deanna, Zachary, Justin, Aynsleigh, Christopher, and Gustavo; her great-grandchildren Caden, Chloe, Olive, Malorie, Lincoln, Valorie, Luke, Delilah, and Ella; her brother-in-law Vincent Kliesch; her sisters-in-law Leonora Poliseno Cosgrove, Ann Edwards Cosgrove, and Moira MacDougall Denault; her daughter-in-law Lisa Andrews Denault; her son-in-law Michael Escher; and her twenty-seven nieces and nephews.

Thinking of you, Suzanne. Your mother was a card and I loved watching her interact and her spunk! I’m certain she and my dad will share a toast. You’re a wonderful daughter that took such care of your mom. God bless you
