Elizabeth Velvet Furlani (nee Bunting) passed away peacefully on January 11, 2021. She was 75 years old.
Elizabeth was born in Staten Island, New York on September 21, 1945 to Ruth and Andrew Bunting. She lived her entire life in Staten Island. She had many hobbies that she loved, which included sewing, making quilts, card making, crafting, shopping, playing World of Warcraft and knitting. She was a stained glass artisan. But most of all she loved the holidays, especially Christmas. She graduated from Port Richmond High School and went on to work at Kidder, Peabody and Co. as a secretary.
In 1965 she married Frank Furlani from Port Richmond and raised 3 children, Gerald Furlani, Elizabeth Brower and Craig Furlani in their Westerleigh home. In addition to being a loving wife, mother and grandmother, she was very active with her church, The Church of Saint Andrew, where she was a faithful parishioner, a member of the Prayer Shawl Ministry, volunteered at Trinity Church Soup Kitchen, was an actor for Fright Night and made crafts for the Holiday Fair. She was also a member of the Staten Island Quilters Guild and a Girl Scout and Boy Scout leader.
Elizabeth is survived by her husband Frank, three children: Gerald Furlani, Elizabeth Brower (Robert), and Craig Furlani (Denise), 4 grandchildren: Andrew Furlani, Ryan Brower, Alexander Brower and Emily Furlani.
She is also survived by her loving sister, Ruth Michie (George), brother-in-law and sister-in-law Robert and Charlene Furlani and 3 nieces and 1 nephew.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at the Church of St. Andrew, Staten Island, at a later date when it is safe for us to gather. In lieu of flowers, a donation in memory of Elizabeth Furlani can be sent to the Church of Saint Andrew, 40 Old Mill Road, Staten Island, NY 10306, Stained Glass Window Fund.
