Ellen Oloumi was born in Brooklyn, NY, to Frederick and Eleanor Doyle. The second child of eight, she was a natural nurturer. She attended Fontbonne Hall Academy and went on to King’s County Hospital Nursing School. Ellen worked as a nurse at King’s County and as the Nursing Coordinator of the ICU at Brooklyn Methodist Hospital. She left her career of nursing to be a full time caregiver to her family.
Ellen met her beloved husband, Dr. Mohammad Oloumi, through her best and lifelong friend, Agnes. They married in 1979 and had three children, Ahmad Oloumi (Erika), Leila Henderson, and Ali Oloumi (Nicole). She was a devoted grandmother, affectionately known as Ba, to her nine grandchildren, Zarah Henderson, Samirah Henderson, Xavier Oloumi, Aryanah Henderson, Oliver Oloumi, Penelope Oloumi, Annabelle Oloumi, Alia Oloumi, and Quincy Oloumi.
Ellen enjoyed knitting, reading, laundry, and her British murder mystery shows. She was of Irish descent, but she took pride in perfecting Persian dishes, such as ghormeh sabzi and rice. Although she complained about them, she adored all the cats she had in her lifetime.
Ellen was a giver. She was strong and tough, but had the biggest heart. She loved spending time with her extended family and friends. She opened her door time and time again to so many people. She loved to help others and provide opportunities for them to better themselves. She devoted herself to her children and her husband. She would do anything to protect them. Whether it was spending hours volunteering at the St. John Villa Academy Gym, cooking a Thanksgiving dinner, or hosting a pool party for 40-plus people, Ellen made it happen.
Ellen was predeceased by her parents, Frederick and Eleanor Doyle. She leaves behind her husband, children, and grandchildren, as well as her sisters and brothers, Kathy Hart, Patricia and Lou Adorno, Joann and Bobby Petersen, Freddy and Ronnie Doyle, Danny and Clista Doyle, Johnny and Patty Doyle, and Kevin Doyle and Cindy Barker. She also leaves behind her loving nieces and nephews.
