

The Manhattan native moved to Brooklyn in 1946 upon his return from military service. He settled in Castleton Corners in 1990.
A World War II veteran, Mr. Bucchieri served in the U.S. Army from 1942 to 1946. He was a private first class and saw duty in the Pacific theater, stationed in the Philippines and later in the occupying forces in Japan.
Mr. Bucchieri was a locksmith for the former city Board of Education for 15 years, until retiring in 1986. Prior to that, he worked on the assembly line for 15 years for the National Biscuit Company in Manhattan. He also worked as a carpenter for eight years for a construction company on Long Island.
He was a member of District Council 37.
Mr. Bucchieri was a parishioner of St. Teresa's R.C. Church, Castleton Corners.
He enjoyed gardening and was a pro at raising plants in large flowerpots. He especially enjoyed growing tomatoes, cucumbers and peppers.
Mr. Bucchieri was fond of traveling with his wife, and Nova Scotia and Florida were favorite destinations.
When he was younger he enjoyed playing pool and cards, especially pinochle and the Italian game brisk.
"He was very devoted to his family and the thing he enjoyed most was spending time with his granddaughters," said his daughter, Delicia McEvilly.
Mr. Bucchieri's wife of 62 years, the former Josephine Cosentino, died in 2009.
Along with his daughter, Delicia, surviving are his daughters, Marietta Vaccaro and Leonora Oddo, and two granddaughters.
The funeral will be Tuesday from the Casey Funeral Home, with a mass at 9:30 a.m. in St. Teresa's R.C. Church, both Castleton Corners. Burial will follow in Resurrection Cemetery, Pleasant Plains.
