

Dr. Ernest Joseph Genco, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and community pillar, passed away peacefully on June 22, 2025, at the age of 95. Born in 1930, Ernest led a life of integrity, service, and love for family and community.
After earning his dental degree from St. Louis University, Ernest served in the U.S. Army as Captain, before joining his brothers, Albert and Victor, in a dental practice in Brooklyn, NY. As a dentist, he was known not only for his skill but for his dedication to his patients’ well-being. Beyond his profession, Ernest had a passion for sports, including basketball and running, participating in NYC Marathons.
Ernest is survived by his loving wife of 68 years, Dorothy (Rousseau) Genco, their six children and their spouses: Stephen and Maria, Anita and Alexander Dake, Carolyn Carlson, Salvatore and Kathleen, Frank and Natalie, and Gerard and Catherine; thirteen grandchildren – Gina Genco and Dominic Genco; Ernest Carlson; Jimmy Genco and Jenna Genco; Christian Genco, Celeste (Genco) Murray, Sophia (Genco) Goodman, and Justin Genco; Samantha (Genco) Kopicki, Jessica Genco, Nicolas Genco, Gianna Genco; ; six great grandchildren – Isabella Genco; Jack, Elizabeth and Genevieve Murray; Laurenna Goodman and Emma Kopicki ; his brother Dr. Joseph Genco and a circle of extended family and friends. His home was always open, his wisdom freely given, and his laughter unforgettable.
Ernest Joseph Genco leaves behind a legacy of love, service, and community spirit. He will be missed but never forgotten.
Visitation will be held at Casey Funeral Home, located at 350 Slosson Ave, Staten Island, NY 10314, on June 27, 2025, from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm.
A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at St. Teresa of the Infant Jesus Roman Catholic Church, 1634 Victory Blvd, New York, NY 10314, on June 28, 2025, from 9:30 am to 10:30 am.
The committal service will be held at St. Peters Cemetery, 52 Tyler Ave, New York, NY 10310, on June 28, 2025, from 11:00 am to 11:30 am.
