

'A loving and nurturing Aunt,' retired insurance underwriter
Ethel C. O'Donnell was born on March 24, 1926 and passed away at Seaview Nursing Home after a brief stay.
A native Staten Islander, she was born and raised in Tompkinsville, later moving to Westerleigh in 1965 and lived there the rest of her life. Ethel graduated from PS 16 and Curtis High School.
Ethel spent 46 years as an insurance underwriter and retired in 1989 from the Allen C. Bentson Agency. She enjoyed gardening, home decorating and crossword puzzles. She was an avid NY Yankees fan. Ethel attended Mass at St. Teresa's and St. Roch's RC churches. She was cherished by her caring neighbors who always looked out for her.
Ethel is survived by many nieces and nephews. She was particularly close to her niece, Frances DeSio-Gallagher, and her nephews, Dr. John and James DeSio, and their children, Jillian and James Allen.
Viewing is at Casey Funeral Home on Thursday, July 16, from 3 to 7 p.m. Funeral is from St. Teresa's RC Church at 9:30 a.m. on Friday. Burial will follow in Moravian Cemetery.
