

Born Evelyn DeAngelo in Brooklyn, she moved to Westerleigh in 1969 and lived there until 2007, when she relocated to Gilbert 2007.
A graduate of Lafayette High School in Brooklyn, Mrs. Balsamo was a clerical worker for 35 years for Metropolitan Life Insurance Co. on the Island. She retired in 1997.
"She was a devoted mother and grandmother, avid bowler and world traveler," said her daughter, Laura Balsamo.
While living on the Island, Mrs. Balsamo was a parishioner of St. Roch's R.C. Church, Port Richmond.
Her husband of 31 years, Joseph, died in 1994.
In addition to her daughter, Laura, Mrs. Balsamo is survived by her sisters, Elaine D'Ambra, Marilyn Azzoparadi and Roseann Nocera, and her grandson.
The funeral will be Friday from the Casey Funeral Home, with a mass at 9:30 a.m. in St. Teresa's R.C. Church, both Castleton Corners. Burial will follow in Moravian Cemetery, New Dorp.
