Evelyn Morio

She was born on Staten Island to Norwegian immigrants Engvald and Thordis Pederson. She attended Port Richmond and McKee High Schools, as well as Wilfred Academy. She was a hairstylist at Eger Nursing Home for 20 years followed by working as a makeup artist at Macy's.

Evelyn was a parishioner at Holy Family Church, where she was a member of the choir for 33 years. She also taught CCD for 12 years and was also a tutor in the public schools for a year. She enjoyed painting, crocheting, baking, and volunteering at Eger Nursing Home for more than 30 years. She was a member of Nansen's Lodge, the Staten Island Garden Club and a 20 Year member of the Eger Auxiliary. She loved cats and her most recent cat was "Baby."

Evelyn was the beloved wife of 48 1/2 years of the late Frederick William Morio; loving mother of the late Frederick "Glenn" (Maria) Morio, Sharon (Robert) Penrose, and Rachel (Ronald Manfredi) Harrell; adored grandmother of Daniel Morio, Heather Morio, Michael Penrose, Tracy Airey, Elyse Harrell, and Marissa Harrell; cherished great-grandmother of Alex, Emily, Kiera, Faith and Grace; dear sister of Gloria Gidney, Ronald and Gerald Peterson. She was predeceased by a son-in-law, Harvey Harrell.

Funeral service from Casey Funeral Home, 350 Slosson Ave., Castleton Corners, is 10 a.m. Monday. Interment: Moravian Cemetery. Friends will be received Sunday, 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
