A funeral mass will be offered on Friday, May 8th 2026, 10am at St. Patrick’s Church, 53 St. Patrick Pl, Staten Island. Internment will follow at 11:30am at Resurrection Cemetery, Staten Island.
Born and raised in Manhattan, NY by parents of Italian descent, Frances was a graduate of the Julia Richmond High School and to satisfy her fondness of mathematics she worked for many years as a bookkeeper with Davis Polk & Wardwell.
She married her soulmate in 1954, moved to Staten Island in 1961 to raise a family in Princes’ Bay, and years later returned to work as a bookkeeper for A Very Special Place. One final move would take her and her husband to New Springville where they lived out their senior years together.
In her downtime, Frances found joy in sewing, doing puzzles that led to an admirable collection of finished pieces, reading murder mysteries and watching hallmark programs like When Calls the Heart.
A beloved Mom and Grandma, Frances is survived by her daughter Lynn (Giovanni) Sciove and son Alan (Denise) Cieslik; five loving grandchildren Justin, Dylan and Emma Cieslik and Gaetano and Christopher Sciove. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her loving husband John Cieslik of 68 years, her sister Catherine Galano and her parents Florence and Emanuel Cammarata.
Spending time with family was of the utmost importance to Frances and she looked forward to every shared family vacation and holidays together.
As the last living Matriarch in her family lineage, Frances made it her mission to keep tabs on everyone, remaining close and maintaining ties with all family members. Putting everyone else first came naturally to her and as much as she loved, she was loved back and will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
