

Born in New Brighton, Mr. Sweeney moved to Westerleigh in 1975. He settled in New Springville in 1996.
Mr. Sweeney worked for 28 years as a bus maintainer with the city Metropolitan Transit Authority, working out of the Castleton Avenue Bus Depot in West Brighton. He retired in 2009.
Mr. Sweeney was a member of the Staten Island Eight Ball League. He enjoyed playing billiards, going fishing and building model airplanes. He was a World War II history buff.
"My father was a very caring, wonderful, quiet man, who was a big jokester, but he also loved his family very much," said his daughter, Renee Sweeney.
Along with his daughter, Renee, also surviving are two brothers, Edward and James Sweeney, and sister, Margaret Ann Sweeney-Jones.
The funeral will be Sunday at 3:30 p.m. in the Casey Funeral Home, Castleton Corners. Arrangements include cremation
