Frank Henry Ahlborn

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — Frank Henry Ahlborn, 80, of Meiers Corners, a retired driver for the New York City Transit Authority, died Monday in Staten Island University Hospital, Ocean Breeze.

Born in Stapleton, Mr. Ahlborn moved to Meiers Corners in 1966. After graduating from McKee High School, he joined the U.S. Marines and served in the Korean War.

After his retirement from the Transit Authority in 1993, he enjoyed tending to his garden and growing flowers and vegetables.

He enjoyed working with electronics and computers, and was “always a helpful guy,” said his daughter, Theresa Ferre.

In addition to his daughter, Theresa, surviving are his wife of 58 years, Jane; another daughter, Jacqueline Campelo; two sisters, Frances Mincone and Helen Rector, and four grandchildren.

The funeral will be Saturday at 9:30 a.m. in the Casey Funeral Home, Castleton Corners. Arrangements include cremation.
