Frank Sgromo, 78, passed away peacefully at home from ALS on October 22nd, 2020, surrounded by his family. He remained in great spirits despite his battle with this debilitating disease.
Frank was born in Wilkes-Barre, PA on March 27th, 1942. He moved with his family to Brooklyn as a young boy. He later enlisted into the United States Army, and was honorably discharged at the end of his service. Frank married the love of his life on November 25th, 1967, and had 52 wonderful years of marriage. He served as a firefighter in the Fire Department of New York, serving from 1968-1991.
Frank is survived by his wife, Carloyn Sgromo, son and daughter-in law David and Lisa Sgromo, daughter, Stacy Yurich, four grandchildren, Aidan, Josie, Mia and Kaylie, siblings Angie Perlmutter (Whitey), John (Jr.) Sgromo, Carmela Hayes, Mary Barbera (Andrew), James Sgromo (Susan), and Patricia Sharp (Noel), as well as several nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews.
Visitation will take place at Harmon Home on Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A funeral mass will be held at Holy Family RC church on Monday at 10:30 a.m. Burial will take place at St. Peter's Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Frank's name to the ALS Association, FDNY Fire Family Transportation Foundation, and JJ Peters Veterans Hospital would be appreciated.
